Senior Node.js Backend Engineer
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Node.js Backend Engineer who will play a key role in designing, building, and scaling high-performance backend systems. You will work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and DevOps teams to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable APIs and services.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js
Build and optimize RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services
Architect microservices and event-driven systems
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
Optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability
Integrate databases (SQL & NoSQL) and third-party services
Ensure application security, data protection, and compliance
Review code, mentor junior developers, and promote best practices
Collaborate with DevOps on CI/CD, monitoring, and deployments
Participate in system design discussions and technical decision-making
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of backend development experience
Strong expertise in Node.js, JavaScript (ES6+), and/or TypeScript
Experience with frameworks like Express.js, NestJS, or Fastify
Solid understanding of databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis)
Experience with microservices architecture
Knowledge of authentication & authorization (JWT, OAuth)
Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Strong understanding of API design, scalability, and performance optimization
Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Mocha, etc.)
Nice to Have
Experience with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS)
Knowledge of GraphQL
Exposure to serverless architectures
Understanding of system design and distributed systems
Prior experience mentoring or leading engineering teams
